Elite Squad: The Enemy Within is an action crime movie. This is a movie about the aftermath of a prison riot. A prison in Brazil is the scene of a riot by the prisoners. The authorities send in guards and several prisoners are killed. After the fact there are charges by Human Rights workers that the squad that quelled the riot violated human rights and killed these prisoners for no reason. The squad is broken up but must prove their innocence.

Prison riots are violent and many times people die. Those sent in to stop the rioting risk their lives and must sometimes clear their names.
