This made-for-video feature is the fourteenth installment in the animated franchise about paranormal teenagers and their hijinks. Also called Welcome to Monster High: The Origin Story, the feature describes the founding of the monster-oriented high school by Dracula's daughter, Draculaura, and Frankie, the daughter of Frankenstein's monster. Although presented as the definitive story of the school's founding, this version contradicts versions offered in earlier franchise installments, in which Draculaura and Frankie attend a school that was founded centuries before they enrolled. The film features the voices of Debi Derryberry, Cassandra Morris, Salli Saffioti, Larissa Gallagher, Cristina Milizia, and Michael Sorich.
