Based loosely on the life of notorious British drug smuggler Howard Marks, this movie provides a juxtaposition of the life Marks leads in the present day with his early days as a student and smuggler. Arriving at the prestigious Oxford University Marks could have become a teacher, but instead becomes involved in the 1960s drugs scene and sets out on a different path. After a short attempt to live a drug free life fails to bring great rewards, Marks sets out on a new path that will introduce him to some of the World's most dangerous criminals.
