The Hoax is a comedy drama that was released in 2007 with the US release in 2008. The film centers on a man by the name of Clifford Irving who comes up with a scheme to sell a fake biography the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. This results in him having to actually write the biography by stealing a manuscript from a former Howard Hughes biographer. He also has to deceive the public about the biography, and he also attempts to save his marriage along the way. The Hoax was directed by Lasse Hallström, and adapted from a Clifford Irving book by William Wheeler.
