The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a British-American movie which aired on CBS in 1982. Based on the Victor Hugo novel, Quasimodo, the hunchback bell ringer, meets the gypsy Esmeralda and falls in love with her as well as the priest, who wants her for himself. She appreciates Quasimodo's kindness, but is in love with a solider. When a mob thinks Esmeralda is a witch, they want to catch her and burn her to the stake. Quasimodo rescues her and claims sanctuary in the church. She manages to escape both the mob and the priest and is thankful for Quasimodo and his loyalty as a friend.
