Try To is a suspenseful murder mystery based on the Mary Higgins Clark short story by the same name. The made for TV movie follows the story of successful forensic detective Lisa Monroe. Lisa's best friend, Jenny Rand was raped and murdered fifteen years prior and when those that testified against her accused murderer start turning up dead, including Lisa's own grandmother, Lisa makes the decision to leave her carefully built life and return to her hometown of Milford, Connecticut. She teams up with the local police department, including her former boyfriend turned police detective, Joe O'Conner. They must track down the prime suspect in the murder spree, Jenny's recently paroled murderer, Jake Mitchell.

As they delve deeper into the investigation and the man hunt for Jake Mitchell, Lisa and Joe come to the realization that their prime suspect may not be the killer they are looking for. As they work to uncover the identity of the true murderer, it becomes obvious that Lisa may be on the real killer's agenda. Further revelations lead the pair to add Jenny's own father to their growing list of suspects. As the movie continues Lisa and Joe are on a race against time to catch a killer and possibly save Lisa's life. In order to catch the killer Lisa has to look back on her memories of her best friend's murder over a decade before, memories that she's tried to suppress and avoid for most of her adult life. Lisa must also come to with her reasons for leaving her hometown and her evolving feelings for Joe.

Lisa Monroe is played by actress Gabrielle Anwar, Lisa's former boyfriend turned detective, Joe O'Conner is played by actor Max Martini. The movie was directed by Jeff Beesley and filmed in Moose Jaw and Saskatchewan, Canada.
