Descendants is a Disney Channel original movie that aired for the first time in July 2015. The movie centers on the offspring of some of the most popular Disney villains, including Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, and the Evil Queen. The story takes place in the kingdom of Auradon, where the son of King Beast and Queen Belle is about to take the throne. King Beast, hoping to give the villain offspring a second chance at redemption, decides to bring them over from the Isle of the Lost and give them an opportunity to live in Auradon.

Mal, played by Dove Cameron, is the daughter of Maleficent and is the protagonist of the movie. She is a self-proclaimed "queen of mean" and has a difficult time adjusting to Auradon

Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Carlos De Vil (Cameron Boyce) and Jay (Booboo Stewart) return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of new villainous offspring to them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma (China Anne McClain) and Hades (Cheyenne Jackson) will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite the decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it's up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.

When the pressure to be royal becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.
